WattBridge paves the way for state-of-the-art facility to support nearly 200,000 homes in Brazoria County, Texas

New 288 MW Plant Expands WattBridge Support for ERCOT Grid and Greater Houston Area to 1,536 MW

HOUSTON, September 30, 2021 / PRNewswire / – WattBridge Energy, LLC announced that the 288 MW Mark One Project, the Company’s fourth peak power facility for ERCOT and the Greater Houston area in just 18 months – started construction in Brazoria County. Scheduled to be online by November 2022, the plant will support the development of renewable energies and provide reliable power during periods of peak demand, including strong heat waves and winter conditions.

The Mark One project will be powered by six sets of LM6000 gas turbines and, when completed, will increase WattBridge’s peak power capabilities in the Greater Houston 1,536 MW zone with an additional 2,016 MW under advanced development. As one of the most prolific owners / operators of LM6000 aero engines in the world, WattBridge’s state-of-the-art power plants support the Houston grid during critical periods, including uninterrupted power generation throughout the 2021 winter storm Uri.

Each plant will be delivered as a true turnkey peak power solution from PROENERGY to include the full balance of the plant, from the engine to the water treatment to the high voltage substation. It is installed with the vision of accelerating the growth of renewable energies.
