AS-Schneider will present the Digital Valve Kit, customized injection sleeve solutions at ADIPEC 2022

(AS-Schneider Group: Nordheim, Germany) — An AS-Schneider Group highlight at ADIPEC at stand 8840 in hall 8: the new digital valve kit, which helps plant operators achieve the current state of health of their valves. Additionally, an industrial valve specialist will showcase valves for hydrogen and high pressure applications as well as custom injection socket solutions for oil and gas applications.

Each year, technicians install millions of mechanical components in new or old plants, many of which are valves and valve manifolds. To take advantage of the IoT, suppliers, plant engineers, and operators need to include these valves in the plant’s digital twin. This is exactly where the AS-Schneider Group comes in, developing valve solutions that can be easily integrated into the global and digital industrial infrastructure of the future.

For several years, AS-Schneider has offered its customers the Digital Product Pass for valves, which meets the requirements of DIN SPEC 91406 (IEC 61406). E-series valves and manifolds, monoflanges, VariAS blocks and DBB ball valves are marked with a unique QR code. User can scan it or enter individual serial number to This QR code provides easy access to static product information such as technical specifications, activity-specific documents, individual drawings, certificates and spare parts.

Having recently joined the Digital Data Chain Consortium (Digital Data Chain), AS-Schneider will now take it to the next level by standardizing the data according to VDI 2770 and delivering the data packet via the third platform (called information exchange based on the Cloud Platform). The first information is shared by AS-Schneider on stand 8840.

In addition to the static Digital Product Pass, AS-Schneider is working on a dynamic solution to detect or capture data to gain insight into valve health status. This is achieved using a newly developed digital service, the Digital Valve Kit.

The digital valve kit immediately provides the maintenance team with all error messages and warnings. This allows the operator of the installation to be warned in advance so that he can take further measures. The system complies with all relevant industry standards (eg NAMUR standard). A live demonstration of this can be seen daily at ADIPEC at 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. at booth 8840.

Valves for hydrogen applications

AS-Schneider valves have been used successfully for hydrogen for more than 20 years. All valves and manifolds as well as DBB ball valves are suitable for this purpose. Instrumentation and piping valves can also be used safely in natural gas applications with, for example, a 20% hydrogen mixture. This functionality is particularly interesting for operators of natural gas installations and operators of gas networks who wish to convert their natural gas pipelines to hydrogen.

AS-Schneider recommends 316 or 316L austenitic stainless steel as the optimal material for instrumentation and pipeline valves in the hydrogen industry. Other materials are also possible, but managers should ensure that non-metallic valve materials such as seals and lubricants are compatible with the hydrogen medium. There are lists of them in standards and norms (Sandia, ISO/TR, SAE).

When users select the appropriate valve head unit, they should first check whether the operating environment is closed or open. If the environment is open, they can use AS-Schneider’s standard valve head unit. If the valve is mounted in an enclosed, unventilated environment, which may be a protective blind or a container, this increases the sealing requirements. These will be covered with special valve inserts (fugitive emissions standards like TA-Luft or bellows valves).

The custom injection sleeve consists of two shut-off valves and a bleed valve.

An injection or sampling conduit with an integrated DBB valve and check valve is pretty much a custom designed product. From unique process conditions to custom length and dimensions, there are many parameters to consider. This is where AS-Schneider comes in.

The injection barrel can have different configurations, connections and valves, ranging from a simple fabricated tube/probe to an integrated assembly with isolation valves and check valves. AS-Schneider manufactures an integrated chemical injection conduit, complete with probe, double isolation and bleed assembly (two isolation valves and one bleed valve) and an integrated check valve, all in a compact package . Referring to the illustration above, this injection socket can also be converted to a sampling socket by redesigning the probe and without the integrated check valve. The sampling pen is used to safely take fluid samples from the process line for analysis or laboratory purposes.

This type of sheath is mounted in the pipeline through a fitting so that the sheath/probe is inserted and extends to the center of the process line. The other end is connected to the chemical supply line by hose or tubing connections to the chemical injection skid or chemical metering assemblies which house the pump and chemical reservoir chemicals.

Valves for high pressure applications

Pressure is one of the most important parameters when it comes to optimally controlling and regulating processes. Instrumentation needs are increasing due to new oil and gas production techniques used in deep offshore and enhanced oil recovery operations. Higher pressures are always generated, which the valves must be able to withstand. Therefore, users need robust, durable and reliable valves for safe and accurate measurements. This is the only way to control and regulate high pressures.

For these tough applications, AS-Schneider Group’s high pressure valves are designed and tested for superior pressure performance for all critical applications in the oil and gas, chemical and petrochemical industries. The valves provide tight shut-off for control and regulation.

The special secondary rear seat provides additional sealing against the atmosphere. This means that there is less wear on the lining, which improves user safety (anti-burst/non-removable). The high-pressure valves also feature a special thrust bearing of the stem/valve tip connection to absorb the highest stem forces.
