IYC warns Arewa Youths against using derogatory comments against Tompolo

The leadership of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) has warned youth in the North under the Arewa Youth Assembly against using derogatory comments against the capacity of a former freedom fighter from the Niger Delta, the high head of government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, in the management of crude oil. Petroleum monitoring contract awarded by the Federal Government through NNPC Limited.

According to the IYC, despite the vexatious and provocative nature of the comment and the threat of protest by the Arewa Youth Assembly, the youth of the six states of the Niger Delta region are fully in favor of the decision to award the surveillance contract at Tompolo and ensure that his ability can never be questioned by prying young intruders such as the young people of Arewa.

The IYC, through its national spokesperson, Comrade Ebilade Ekerefe, warned that instead of young people in the North becoming the hands of criminal elements involved in the theft of oil in the region and castigating the person or the leadership of the high head of government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, they should focus their energy on helping the security agencies deal with the increasing cases of kidnapping, banditry and terrorism in the northern region of the country.

“They should also know that while Tompolo and many sincere young leaders worked to protect the peace and security of the Niger Delta, what were they doing to contribute to the necessary security in the north? Tompolo worked tirelessly for the peace in the Niger Delta and will continue to support and protect the wealth of the nation in collaboration with other stakeholders.

Ekerefe, while stating that the youths of the North have no right to criticize the decision of the NNPC and the federal government on the award of the oil surveillance contract, warned that the youths of Arewa should be ashamed that Tompolo and others protect the source that feeds the nation while idle and allow insecurity to feast the northern states.

The IYC also commended NNPC limited under the leadership of Mallam Mpele Kolo Kyari and the federal government for their wisdom in awarding the pipeline monitoring contract to Tompolo, noting that this is a sign of good faith and a step in the right direction.

“Let us take this opportunity to also say that our struggle in the region is for total control of our resources, but we must commend the FG for doing the right thing in extending the protection of the nation’s vital wealth to our leaders. We also want to declare that agitation and struggle for control of resources is an article of faith and that the struggle cannot be compromised.

“The federal government did the right thing by giving the contract to oversee the pipeline to the Niger Delta youth leaders. They are leaders who are passionate about peace and a safe environment. Meanwhile, the FG should also urgently address the issues we have raised regarding the completion of the East/West road project, the immediate establishment of the NDDC Council and the prompt completion of the cleanup of the Ogoni. ground. As a government that is ending, they should get serious about these issues and let people be proud to say that this administration has done well.

“We also want to take the opportunity to call on multinational oil companies to heed President Buhari’s call and relocate to the region. As they must know, the region is at its most peaceful at the moment and this is the result of the concerted efforts of the stakeholders to calm it down. We agreed that instead of violent unrest, the region should intellectually engage the federal government on issues that disturb the survival of our people”
