FRIEDRICH VORWERK wins a major contract for the construction of connection pipes for the Brunsbüttel LNG terminal with a volume of more than 120 million euros as part of a joint venture

Tostedt, July 12, 2022 – Friedrich Vorwerk Group SE (ISIN DE000A255F11), a leading supplier in the field of energy infrastructure, has won the major contract for the construction of the connection pipes for the Brunsbüttel LNG terminal. The contract has a total volume of more than 120 million euros and will be implemented by an equal joint venture consisting of the FRIEDRICH VORWERK group (Friedrich Vorwerk and Bohlen & Doyen) and the Austrian HABAU group (PPS Pipeline Systems and HABAU). After the Wilhelmshaven connection pipeline (WAL), the FRIEDRICH VORWERK Group has already secured the second major project related to the planned LNG terminals and thus makes a fundamental contribution to an independent and secure gas supply in Germany.

The first floating LNG terminal at the Brunsbüttel site is to be commissioned by the end of the year. In order to allow imported liquefied gas to be injected into the network as soon as possible, a new gas pipeline section approximately 3 km long (ETL 185), connecting the port area of Brunsbüttel with the existing SH Netz gas pipeline, is to be carried out on behalf of Gasunie Deutschland first. From the beginning of 2023, the transmission system operator will then build an additional approximately 55 km long transmission line (ETL 180) from Brunsbüttel to Hetlingen, which will allow the injection of significantly larger quantities of regasified liquid natural gas in the existing network. Grid. The recently awarded contract covers these two connection pipes and will therefore begin with the construction of the first 3 km connection pipe from the second half of 2022.

Thanks to its complete turnkey expertise in the construction of complex pipelines, the joint venture was able to beat the competition in the procedure for awarding the highly urgent project and thus obtained the contract of its client to long-standing Gasunie Deutschland. In addition to the terminals already under construction in Wilhelmshaven and Brunsbüttel, other LNG import terminals are currently under consideration in northern Germany, for example at the Stade, Hamburg and Lubmin sites.
