We have received operational data on the performance of the Company during the year 2021. For Gazprom, it was a record year.
In 2021, we produced 514.8 billion cubic meters of gas. This is the best result of the last 13 years. It topped the 2020 result by 62.2 billion cubic meters. Gazprom’s production growth covered the lion’s share of global gas consumption growth in 2021.
As usual, we have provided our consumers with a reliable gas supply. According to preliminary data, Gazprom supplied 257.8 billion cubic meters of gas to the domestic market from the gas transmission network. This is the highest level since 2013 and an increase of 31.9 billion cubic meters of gas compared to 2020.
Our exports beyond the FSU amounted to 185.1 billion cubic meters of gas in 2021, 5.8 billion cubic meters more than in 2020. The 2021 result ranks fourth in all records absolutes of society. It should be noted that 15 countries increased their gas imports by Russian pipeline. The strongest growth was observed among large consumers such as Germany (+ 10.5%), Turkey (+ 63%) and Italy (+ 20.3%).
To a large extent, the reliability of Russian gas supplies to the Europe relies on state-of-the-art offshore gas pipelines Nord Stream and TurkStream. It is therefore crucial that another offshore gas pipeline, Nord Stream 2, became fully operational on December 29, 2021. The pipeline has a nominal capacity of 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
Gas exports to China via the Power of Siberia gas pipeline are developing. During 2021, our gas supplies to China regularly exceeded our contractual obligations. On January 1, 2022, Gazprom reached a new level of supply as envisaged by the corresponding bilateral long-term sale and purchase agreement.
We exceeded 2021 plans as part of our main social project – the extension of gas infrastructure in Russian regions. We have built approximately 2,700 kilometers of gas pipelines. Residents of 342 communities across the country gained access to natural gas. The expansion of the large-scale gas network continues. Synchronization plans for 2022 have been signed between Gazprom and the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
We expect our financial results for 2021 to be the highest in Gazprom’s history. This means that dividends will also break all-time records for both Gazprom and Russian state-owned companies as a whole.
